1911 9mm vs 45. Let's talk about a hot topic pistol now: the 1911 9mm vs 45. Some would say that a 1911 in anything other than .45 would be blasphemy. That being said, there are some great options out there for 9mm 1911's, usually holding nine rounds in the magazine plus one in the chamber versus the .45 that holds seven or eight plus one.
Well, as it often goes, I tried a 1911 last week and just fell in love. I have tried CZ 75, Shadow, G22 and Baby Eagle, but the 1911 just felt right.

Due to the limited capacity, I do not see any point in carrying a 9mm as going beyond 10 rounds is impossible for a new owner. The biggest reason to go 9mm for a 1911 is for the experience in shooting it. A full-sized 1911 in 9mm is a real joy to shoot. Recoil is minimal.
Good thinking on going with the .45. Never a bad choice in a 1911. Since that's what you really want that's what you should get and not look back. You can plan on the 9mm for you next one. 😉

9mm would be easier on powder and lead, and shoot flatter for some of the long range plinking I enjoy. The 45 would probably make a nicer.
